Though Ringworm is a fungal infection of the skin.  As well as there are many types of fungal germs (fungi) and some can infect skin, nails, and hair.  Yeast infections are also known as 'ringworm' or 'dermatophyte infection' or 'dermatophytosis'.  This brochure is only about skin herpes (sometimes called tinea corporis).  See also separate brochures called Fungal Infection of the Scalp (Ringworm of Scallops), Athlete's Foot (Tinea pedis), Fungal Infection of the Groin (Tinea cruris), and Fungal Infection of the Nails.

How can you get ringworm?

In general, fungal skin infections are not contagious. You can touch someone's skin if you have a yeast infection, and by the time you wash your hands, you're unlikely to get it. Sometimes you can get a fungal skin infection and this is how? An infection that affects a person. Ringworm is caused by? As a consequence of their relationship with things that have been tampered with, in contact with an infected person.  For example, towels, clothing, bedding, or chairs used by someone with shingles. Farm animals can also be a source.  Knocking on the door of a farm where infected animals may be enough to infect their skin.

Though a small area of infected skin spreads outward.  Ringworm is caused by? It usually turns into round, red, and inflamed patches of skin.  The outer edge is more swollen and crusted than the paler center.  Therefore, it often looks like a gradually growing ring, hence the name herpes.  Sometimes there is only one patch of infection.  Sometimes there are many spots on the body, especially if you get an infection when handling an infected animal.

The rashes can be irritating, itchy, and swollen.  If it doesn't itch and is not bothersome, it is highly unlikely that it is a fungus. Sometimes a fungal skin infection looks like other skin rashes, such as psoriasis.  Ringworm is caused by? If you have a slight ring of dark skin, but it's not itchy at all, it may be something called granuloma annulare - a harmless skin condition that requires no treatment. You can buy an antifungal cream at drug stores or get one with a prescription.  There are several types and brands, for example, terbinafine, clotrimazole, econazole, ketoconazole, and microbiotope.  These are good for clearing fungal infections from the skin.  There is no evidence that one cream is better than the other.

Ringworm is caused by? To prevent the infection from passing, do not share towels.  Wash towels, sheets, and clothing frequently.  Clean the shower or bathroom well after use.  Try not to scratch the rashes, as this can spread the fungus to other areas of your body. Ringworm is a common fungal infection caused by common snake-like parasites that live in the cells of the outer layer of the skin. 

Ringworm is often spread by direct skin-to-skin contact with an infected person. You can get shingles by touching an animal with herpes. 

Ringworm can be spread by raising or grooming domestic dogs or cats.  It is also quite common in cows. Ringworm may be spread through contact with objects or surfaces that an infected person or animal has recently touched or rubbed against clothing, towels, bedding and bedding, combs, and brushes. In rare cases, ringworm can be transmitted to humans through contact with infected soil. 

Prolonged contact with highly infected soil will likely lead to infection, respectively.
