What is Android Auto? How it will work? Everything we should know!!

Android Auto is a special Google operating system for infotainment systems in cars.   It was provided by Google in 2014. It was launched in 2015. Through Android Auto, you establish a connection between your smartphone and your car.  In this way, you will see the Android Auto screen in your dashboard, where you can choose to use the Android Auto app.

Though Android Auto runs on your phone, and your car's infotainment screen acts as an external monitor.  Therefore, the connection between your smartphone and the car is made via a USB cable.   Two years ago, Google released Android Auto, a wireless version of Android Auto Wireless.  What is Android Auto? The big advantage of this is that now you don't have to use your corded phone in your car.  There is also a major downside - your phone won't charge while using Android Auto.  Using Android Auto consumes your phone's battery, so make sure you're well-prepared for your trip.

What should we need to know about the Android Auto?

However, once you get a Bluetooth solution and add it to your smartphone, install the Android Auto app from the Google Play Store. What is Android Auto? The real magic happens when you set a rule to start Android Auto when connected to a car via Bluetooth. Scroll down and select Auto Start, then toggle the switch for the Bluetooth connection to Auto Start and Your Car.  You can also turn on pocket detection so that the application does not start prematurely.

To make your phone feel like a true infotainment system, you can run Android Auto in landscape mode.  Because we normally keep my phone turned off in portrait mode, we used a popular $ 3 app called Tasker to automate screen orientation.  Download the app, then follow these steps:

  • Under Profile, press +, then Status, then choose NET, then BT Connected.

  •  Under the name, tap the magnifying glass, then select the name of your car's Bluetooth device.

  • Under Address, tap the magnifying glass and then select your car's Bluetooth device again.

  • On the Edit tasks screen, press +, then press Display.  Then choose Show Auto Rotate, and then select On from the Set menu.

What is Android Auto? Your phone will automatically deactivate the rotation lock when it is connected to the car.  So, when the connection is terminated, you will return to portrait-only mode and exit the Android Auto app. Finally, with the free Bluetooth volume control app, you can prevent the phone from sending audio at a low volume from the car. What is Android Auto? Android Auto is basically a special version of the Android interface with bigger buttons, simplified menu items, and fewer drifts.

The last word?

What is Android Auto? As well as the headphone icon provides quick access to compatible music apps like Pandora and Spotify, the navigation icon provides directions from Google Maps, and the phone button lets you make calls. In many cases, however, voice commands are easy to use.  Press the microphone icon or say "Ok Google," then ask for music, instructions, a phone call, or a text message.  It works with all Google Assistant verbs, so you can also direct list items, add calendar appointments, and turn off thermostats at home.

Still, it is advisable, when looking at a new car, to ask in the garage if the infotainment system is compatible with the wireless version of Android Auto.  Many new phones already support 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi. You can see it in your phone's glasses.  The high frequency (5 GHz) is necessary because Bluetooth provides very little bandwidth for streaming to Android Auto.  That is why cars must establish a Wi-Fi connection.

Don't you meet the requirements?  Then there is another option, the AA Wireless Dongle.  This dongle is part of an Indigo project and has already been put into production.  For 53 euros you can buy one.  The Car-Dongle is a similar stick and sells for 73 euros through Indiegogo, respectively.
